An hour drive from our home, there is a place called Blue Spring State Park. At this time of year, it is THE place to see manatees. When we had our unusual week of freezing temperatures last month, there were hundreds of manatees at the park! When the coastal waters get too cold, the manatees move inland to the springs - 72 degree water year round. The weather was fairly warm on the day of our visit, and the manatee count was 50.
