Ryker is 5!

We just celebrated Ryker's birthday week! Here are a couple photos of our adorable five year old in the backyard.

When I asked Brynn what we should do for Ryker's birthday, she had the brilliant idea of filling his room with balloons! We blew them up while he was at school, and he loved it. When Brynn piled all the balloons in one corner and aimed the fan at them, it got even better! The fan made them float in the air and Ryker had tons of fun.

We also went to a local splash park with my parents. It is still one of Ryker's favorite things to do. He and Ellany splashed around until it got dark, then we ate a chocolate cake shaped like a number 5.

He stopped and said "Cheese!" for this photo.

Ellany ran around the circle of fountains saying,
"Best. Day. EVER!"

Some things Ryker is doing now:
  • He is getting really good at reading. Brynn made him a little book as a present, and he read almost every word. He often surprises me by reading signs that we drive by during the day.
  • He also sings a LOT. He probably sings more than he talks! We hear songs from school, church, videos and computer games. He also loves to use a computer program that lets you make your own digital music.
  • When he gets hurts Ryker says, "Are you OK?".
  • Ryker's favorite toys are his Leapster and my computer. One of his birthday presents was getting his VERY OWN (and somewhat used) computer in his room.
I think he just gets cuter every day. :0)

  1. Seeing Ryker in action is pure awesomeness!! This is such an exciting post for me. What an amazing day we had and the post really captures the energy of the day and events at the park. The cake was not in the photo but was very yummy too. Thanks for your blog, I love it.
